You will need to fast; therefore, do not eat or drink anything after 12:00 Midnight the night before surgery. Wear comfortable clothing that you can change into and out of easily. Please bathe the morning of your surgery and wear fresh clothing. Wash your hair and do not use any gels, mousse or hair spray. Please leave all jewelry and valuables at home. Have someone accompany you to the hospital and stay there until your surgery is completed.  Adolescents 12-18 years of age must have adult consent for treatment.

At Home After Surgery

It is very important that you follow your doctor’s orders regarding diet, rest and medications. Unless otherwise directed, drink clear liquids for the first 6 hours after surgery. If you have tolerated liquids well, it will be safe to progressively add solid foods. By the following day you may resume a normal diet. It is normal to feel a little dizzy and sleepy for several hours after surgery. Do not drive, operate machinery, sign any important papers or make any significant decisions until the next day.
