Surgical Technician
Description
Ouachita County Medical Center has openings for Full Time Surgical Scrub Technicians shift 7a-3p+call.
Surgical technicians assist surgeons and other medical professionals by preparing patients, rooms and equipment for pending surgical procedures, as well as, assisting operating room professionals during those procedures as part of a team.
Essential Duties include:
- Preparing operating rooms by ensuring all equipment needed for the procedure is properly disinfected and assembled.
- Check that the equipment is in working order.
- Prepare patients for surgery by cleaning, shaving and disinfecting the areas of a patient's body that will be operated on.
- Move patients to the OR and position them on the operating table, using sterile surgical drapes to cover them.
- Monitoring patients' vital signs and observing their status.
- During surgery, pass sterile surgical equipment, such as scalpels and forceps, to surgeons.
- After surgery transport patient back to room.
- Clean and prep OR for the next surgery.
This positions requires the applicant to have a two year Surgical Technologist degree or certification.
The applicant must have strong interpersonal skills, be able to perform well individually and within group settings, have the ability to handle situations professionally and accurately, and must be able to provide care with courtesy, friendliness and respect.
