Sleep Study Test A Sleep Study Test is a recording of data about your sleeping disorders. Many people who have sleep disorders are unaware of their problem. In most cases, a family member will notice the signs before the patient does. Sleep disorders are common. Each year about 10 million people nationwide consult their physician about their sleep. If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, you should consult your physician. Your physician may choose to evaluate you for sleep disorder through polysomnography (PSG).
PSG is an all night study, which monitors various functions during sleep.
The test will last all night, starting at 8:30 pm till 5 or 6 am. The test will evaluate the cause of excessive daytime sleepiness, insomnia, or unusual spells occurring during sleep. Test will help diagnost sleep apnea, or restless leg syndrome. A qualified technologist will perform the test, Director of Cardiopulmonary Care will review and score the test and a neurologist will read the test. Results will be sent to your phyisican with the possibility of other tests being ordered for treatment of the disorder found. |
