Ouachita County Medical Center Sleep Lab offers help with Sleep Disorder diagnosing and treatments for patients who are unable to sleep or are chronically sleepy through out the day. Patients often do not complain of sleep related behaviors, but often of the side effects. A few of the side effects are loss of energy, fatigue, headaches, high blood pressure, memory loss, difficulty in concentrating, decreased sex drive, and being sleepy when driving short or long distances.
Polysomnograpy is a record of a persons sleep pattern, heart activity, and limb movement during sleep. People spend one third of their lives sleeping. We simply cannot live without sleep. Memory, immune system function and day time energy are all linked to sleep. It is estimated that 90,000,000 people in North America suffer from sleep disorder. You may be one of them.
How Much Sleep Do You Need?
This is a common question asked by patients. Sleep needs vary from patient to patient. Most adult patients need about 7-8 hours to be properly rested. Enough sleep is the amount of time an individual needs to stay awake and alert at all points during the day until near bedtime.
If you feel like that you are not getting enough sleep and are having some of the side effects listed contact your physician for evaluation. |
